Wednesday Weekly Helen's Closet

Happy first Wednesday of the new year, makers! I hope you are all full of excitement and sewjo for new projects and experiences. It has been so nice to take a week off and make some plans for 2017 while spending time with friends and family. I have quite a list of things (I always go a bit overboard with the whole resolution thing), but one thing I am trying this year is I am writing myself a letter. It includes my resolutions, but also communicates my desires for change and my feelings about where I am at in my life. I’m hoping next new year, when I read this letter, it will help put the past year in perspective and show me how far I have come. Feel free to join me if you would like to write your own letter!

I watched two fantastic TV series’ over the Christmas break, and if while I realize not everyone’s tastes are the same, some of you may enjoy these shows. Available on Canadian and American Netflix!

The Crown – A dramatized telling of Queen Elizabeths The Second’s first years as monarch. Beautiful scenes, lovely costumes, and some amazing acting from Claire Foy (The Queen) and John Lithgow (Winston Churchill).

Please Like Me – An Australian comedy that tackles some heavy subject matter in a very real, approachable, and funny way. I watched the series twice, actually, it is amazingly awesome.

Happy new year! 🙂

You too, Gillian!!

I love Please Like Me and I’ve never met anyone else who watches it.

Happy new year! Glad to hear you are a fan of Please Like Me, I’m obsessed by it.

Oh Helen, thanks for the shout out! So glad you like that fabric, isn’t it fantastic AND it’s just gone on sale….
ps also massively loved The Crown.

Helen, I love the letter idea! Do you know about It’s a dead-simple website where you can send an email to yourself and date the delivery for anytime in the future. Good for peeps who like to type vs. write. (Most of the time my brain moves faster than I can move a pen!)

I’ve also been watching “The Crown” and I LOVE it. The costumes are brilliant, and I love how it shows how difficult it is to be a human representing an institution. On a related note, I’m also excited for “Victoria” (a Masterpiece show on PBS in the States). Yes, I’m kind of an Anglophile, LOL.

Happy New Year Helen! Both those shows are on my queue – glad to hear they are good ones!
