Banana Pajamas

Carolyn Pajama Shorts

Every once in a while a fabric pops up in my inbox that causes me to abandon all other project plans and make something completely unexpected. This banana print was that fabric. I snatched it up from Blackbird Fabrics to make the ultimate summer PJ’s!

For the PJ shorts, I used the Carolyn Pajama shorts pattern, which I have made before in flannel. I love this pattern because it has all the nice details of classic PJs, while still being quick to sew up. It especially nice in a lightweight cotton like this banana fabric.

For the PJ top, I used my beloved True Bias Ogden Cami! I didn’t have quite enough fabric to make the facings, so I cut several small strips of bias tape and sewed them together to get enough to finish the edges! I did exposed bias tape that continues from the armhole up and over the shoulder to complete the straps.

I have been wearing this PJ’s a lot this past summer, they are perfect for those warm nights. I also have a full set of Carolyn Pajamas for the winter, so I’m all set!

Also, I hope you appreciate the reference to this show:

Haha fun!! I like the fabric!! 🙂

I love those pj’s! I’m inspired to make some flannels for myself now that we’ve gotten below 60 F for the last few nights here in DC. Also, gotta love a good bananas in pajamas reference!

So super cute! Posts like this always make me wish it were warm enough at night here for strappy tops!

Oh my goodness, do I ever love these!

Love love love!

Love these Helen! The print is so cute! it’s a great idea to use the Ogden as a sleepwear cami.

So cute! I love this print as pajamas, it’s so whimsical and fun. Pajamas are one of those things I know I would wear a lot (you know, because I sleep every single night!) but never prioritize when planning out my projects! That definitely needs to change ASAP. Thanks for the inspiration boost! =)

My pleasure! They really are fun to sew, and they get so much wear!

These are so cute!! I love the fabric.

Bananas in Pajamas! Super cute.
