Happy November, makers! Can you believe it? Hallowe'en has come and gone and it is officially cold here in Vancouver! I had a bit of a wardrobe crisis this week, which sounds VERY silly when I type it out. I was really struggling to put together cute outfits and then it hit me - I haven't put away my summer clothes! This is something I do every year but somehow I still forgot to get it done in busy October. Now that my shorts and palm-leaf printed dresses are safely tucked away, my wardrobe makes so much more sense! It is...

refashioners 2017
Posted by Helen | 30/10/2017 | Into My Closet

I am a little hesitant to share this refashion because it is VERY simple and I don't want to be presenting this coat as my own make since I only changed a few things. That being said, I do believe that even simple refashions count and I did chat about my project on the Love to Sew Podcast, so I have to share, right? 🙂  This is my entry into the Refashioners 2017 Challenge. Happy Wednesday, makers! It's been two weeks since the last Wednesday Weekly, and I usually try not to skip them, but this time I decided to let it go. We promise a camp-focused podcast episode is coming your way soon! On another note, there were some really amazing pattern releases and makes these past two weeks. Check out how pretty the releases all look together - I love when...

Sleeveless Appleton Wrap Dress
Posted by Helen | 23/10/2017 | Into My Closet

Since interviewing Jenny on the Love to Sew Podcast I knew I needed to give Cashmerette Patterns a try, and what better place to start than with her first pattern, the Appleton Wrap Dress! I have loved every version of this dress I have seen and I was pretty confident that it would suit my figure quite well. The fitted silhouette is a little out of my comfort zone, but I feel like 1 million bucks in it. The Appleton dress has cup sizing (as do all Cashmerette patterns), so you can get a great fit around the bust without...

Deer and Doe Lupin Jacket
Posted by Helen | 16/10/2017 | Into My Closet

This pattern has been sitting in my pattern stash for about a year and I am so excited to finally have sewn it up! This is the Lupin Jacket from Deer & Doe and it is my first time working with a D&D pattern! I fell in love with the sporty design of this jacket when I first saw it and I decided to make it in a tencel twill to showcase the drape of the front lapels. I really like how it turned out and it has been getting a lot of wear this fall season! Since I chose to...
